dc.description.abstract | Abstract In manufacturing, the injection molding is one of the most widely used production processes for producing plastic parts with high production rate and little or no finishing required on plastic products. Multi shot molding technology is a light-spot of molding technology. Multi shot molding parting design is a core and vital process in mold fabrication. In the past, multi shot mold parting is manually designed by profuse designers. In this thesis, I present an intelligent methodology to automate multi shot mold paring design based on multi shot components topological relationship and existing single shot molding parting technology. This new proposed approach could significantly reduce lead time of multi shot mold design, improve mold design efficiency, and thus reduce mold cost. | |
