dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the implementation details of a basic Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system based on the TMS320C30 DSP are provided. A detailed algorithm which is suitable for DSP-based implementation is described and issues related to its implementation are discussed. For the DSP-based OFDM algorithm, its timing performance is the most important. The optimized implementation reduced the cycle consumption in comparison to the non-optimized one. The optimization techniques include those exploiting the features of the OFDM algorithm and the DSP-based programming techniques. Implementing the OFDM system on the TMS320C30 Evaluation Module (EVM) not only verified the efficiency of the optimized algorithm, but also achieved some valuable results with respect to the system requirements, such as the processing capability of the DSP and memory requirements. | |
