This study focuses on premature school leavers and the social activities they engaged in. 40 premature school leavers were interviewed regarding the social activities they engaged in, their family profiles, their social support networks and their behaviour. It was found that premature school leavers participated more frequently in peer-based activities and premature school leavers who participated frequently in activities such as hanging around shopping centres are more vulnerable to delinquency behaviours. No difference was found between the high-risk and low-risk premature school leavers in terms of their family profiles, social support network and social activities they engaged in. Policy implications and suggestions for practice are drawn up from the data collected.
