P Mobility Support (RFC2002), also known as Mobile IP, provides a way to be connected to the Internet regardless of the node's point of attachment to the Internet. This makes it possible for mobile nodes, e.g. notebook computers, to deliver and receive IP datagrams while roaming freely in a mobile network environment. Several implementations of this protocol exist in the UNIX platform. However, few have been implemented in Microsoft's Windows operating system, the most popular operating system for the personal computer today. This dissertation describes an implementation of Mobile IP in the Windows 95 operating system. Unlike most implementations in Windows, e.g. FTP Software's implementation of Mobile IP for Windows, this implementation does not modify or replace Windows 95's native TCP/IP protocol stack. This dissertation also discusses the problems encountered during the course of developing the implementation and the proposed solutions to these problems. Suggestions for future improvements are also given.
