dc.description.abstract | Foreigners being employed as domestic helpers is not a peculiar phenomenon that happens only in Singapore. Other countries like Canada, Hong Kong, the Middle-East States etc too have sizeable populations of foreign domestic helpers. This academic exercise attempts to perform a study on a group of foreign workers in Singapore -- the foreign domestic helpers. Following the introductory chapter, the economic impact of foreign domestic helpers will be studied in Chapter 2. The need of domestic helpers and reasons of the need will be explored. The positive and possible negative effects of the influx of foreign domestic helpers will be discussed. In Chapter 3, the government policies that are related to the domestic helpers will be the issue then. Survey results based on a small sampling will be released in Chapter 4. Some deductions will be made from the survey results. For the concluding chapter in chapter 5, an exclusive summary will be presented. | |
