dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this Undergraduate Dissertation is to examine the export competitiveness of China, ASEAN and the East Asian Newly Industrialized Economies (NIEs) in the US market. The technique which is used is shift-share analysis. The Dissertation begins in Chapter 1 with some background information on shift share analysis, including a review of previous studies in this area. Chapter 2 sets out the methodology used and data sources. In Chapter 3 we examine the results of our empirical work with respect to the US market on a category-by-category basis. This is followed on Chapter 4 by a comparison between the findings in this Dissertation and those of previous studies. The Dissertation is completed by a conclusion.
