dc.description.abstract | In this project, two PC voice cards are developed to study the integration of voice and data onto LANs. The distribution of the average end-to-end voice packet delay across two networks using a transport layer protocol, User Datagram Protocol is measured. As the average end-to-end voice packet delay measured is less than the packet generation time, the result shows that it is feasible to have voice transmission across two networks This project also proposes an adaptive self-stabilizing connection control scheme for a server-based network. The connection control scheme gradually limits the total number of connections which is allocated by the server so that the response time of the network is fast when the load on it is light and remains acceptable as it increases to its full capacity. The analysis, which is verified by computer simulation, shows that the scheme works as desired. | |
