dc.description.abstract"The Asia Pacific Region is a fast growing market for tourism, air travel and air cargo. The strong growth rates enjoyed by the region over the last few years will in all likelihood continue into the 1990s…… We can expect a greater demand for aerospace products and services as a result of these phenomenal growth". - Goh Chok Tong 1DPM & Minister for Defence’ Singapore's strategic location as an air transport hub in the Asia Pacific Region has provided impetus to the development of her Aerospace Industry. While the industry counts on civil aviation to spur its growth, Singapore's growing reputation as a major and competent aircraft maintenance repair centre also helps to enhance her locational advantage as a convenient offshore operational base. As a result, international aerospace companies have established their operations to serve their regional and international markets from Singapore. As a high value added and high technology industry, aerospace was selected by the government's Economic Committee in 1986 as one of the activities that offered good potential for future growth. Though still at an infant stage, aerospace is one of the fastest growing industries in Singapore. In view of its rising importance as a contribution to Singapore's GNP, this dissertation will attempt to support that the site in which is suitable for the development of the Aerospace Industry in Singapore is Loyang Industrial Estate.
