DELIVERY OF HEALTH SERVICES: HOW DO TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES ON ONLINE HEALTHCARE PLATFORMS MATTER?. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Recent years have witnessed the blossom of novel healthcare platforms with the doctors and patients as main users. Nevertheless, there has been little research work investigating how these platforms would affect the delivery of health services and the outcome thereof. In this research, we focus on two types of online healthcare platforms—Health Information Exchange (HIE) platforms which allow patient-level electronic health information to be exchanged across the boundaries of health care organizations safely and securely, and online medical consultation (OMC) platforms which allow patients to make online consultations with doctors remotely. We use the theory of physician agency as an overarching theoretical lens to understand the physician-patient interaction in the presence of these platforms. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/171110 |
