Hindrances of workflow involving the movement of installations such as pressure boilers are commonly encountered in industrial projects. Such accessibility problems are caused by various factors which could include workspace congestion and scheduling inconsistencies. A computer prototype is developed in the study which aims to be a preliminary tool in aiding the analysis and resolution processes of site accessibility problems. The prototype generates a three-dimensional simulation of the situation under study, in which the user can manually maneuver the target object past environmental artifacts to the desired destination. The prototype incorporates three components to aid in achieving its objective: (1) object layers to warn the user when productivity and safety considerations are compromised; (2) automatic path correcting routines to sidestep any collisions encountered en route; and (3) finite workspace elements to aid in the associated task of planning the movement methodology. The prototype was tested on an actual case study, with the outcome yielding promising results as to its effectiveness.
