dc.description.abstractThe distribution of gas from supply stations to the consumers requires reduction and control of pressure along distribution lines. This is achieved in a pressure regulating station (PRS). Thus, PRS are considered to be one of the most important assets of gas distribution networks. It is important that their health is closely monitored to prevent the supply of gas being adversely affected. A rigorous framework for continuous health monitoring of the PRS has been developed. First, a mathematical model that can accurately mimic the behavior of the PRS is built. The physical model for a PRS improves on existing works in the literature by incorporating a meta-model to model real gas behavior. Various health issues that are likely to occur in a PRS and proposed several automated strategies to monitor these health issues are highlighted. The proposed health monitoring framework uses the developed model and other data-based techniques depending on the nature of available operational data.
