dc.description.abstractThe Hong Kong Identity that this thesis discusses is a unique way of life in Hong Kong. This Hong Kong Identity through the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. The most typical culture in Hong Kong is popular culture, which is mainly composed by mass media like pop music, film and TV. Popular culture is not only the common memory of the Hong Kong people. It indicates also their way of life, thinking; their consciousness and value, which are the components of Hong Kong Identity. This paper looks for the indication of Hong Kong Identity by the lyrics of Canto-pops and content of the films of Sam Hui, one of the most famous and popular stars and actors who has been playing an essential role in the formation of Hong Kong Identiy. This thesis is divided into five parts in the analysis of introduction, Sam Hui's song lyrics and films of traditional style, frolic structure, Hong Kong sentiments and conclusion.
