In the last few decades, there has been an increasing trend of Muslim women in the world entering the professional field. This is a recent phenomenon in Singapore which may not have been possible decades ago. Engaging in the economic field leads to a new demand for these Muslim women. This demand, encompassed in the term "professional culture" includes the expectations and obligations of professionals. The focus of this study is on professional Muslim women in Singapore whose particular social position may lead them to face two demands - as professionals and as Muslim women. In finding out how these women react and adapt to these possibly conflicting demands, this study looks into and discuss various issues throughout the different chapters.
