Housework being a large part of our everyday lives is treated as something simple and easy to understand . However, housework is rather complicated conceptually and as an object of analysis. Housework study has been commonly treated as a feminine role activity in the family (Oakley, 1985: 24-26) but the subject itself encompasses a broad spectrum of issues that are worthy of sociological investigation. (see also William (1988). Housework research in Singapore has been fairly little (Quah, 1986: 5). Thus, apart from contributing to the exisiting body of housework literature done in Singapore, such a study explores the meaning of housework of these women and provide insights to larger social issues like the attraction of feminist critques of gender arrangements. \
