The synthesis of a crystalline two-dimensional (2D) polymer linked by C-C bonds can be considered as one of the holy grails of synthetic chemistry. Possible routes may involve interface-confined polymerization at air-water or solid-solid interfaces or sterically constrained polymerization of prepacked crystalline monomers.
