The primary aim of this thesis is to establish the folding patterns that may be seen in a series of pyridine-based crescent aromatic N3-peptides. By appending these conformationally defined cavity-enclosing oligomers to some linear scaffolds, a synthetic ion channel may be constructed, potentially forming an ion-conducting synthetic ion channel with tailored properties when embedded within the lipid bilayer membrane.
