Leisure has always taken a role which is perceived as insufficient to man as it is more than often taken for granted. Nevertheless, it is indubitable that it plays a significant part in our lives. One just has to imagine a life that is just pure work twenty-four hours without play. But we all come home to a family which shares leisure activities with us; we meet friends at work where we engage in humour and conversation and yet nobody seems to give much importance to that precious time which made the skeletal being a wholesome person. This phenomenon was thought to be applicable also to married Indian women. Leisure seemed to be secondary to the working and married Indian women. It was seen as trivial compared to the other commitments they have. Only when they reminiscent how those occasional leisure activities have brought tremendous psychological health to them, could they then appreciate the favour leisure has done for them. But the question is why is leisure so often seen as secondary or why is there no time for leisure? What influences these women's leisure time? What are their leisure preferences? These are some of the questions which established the foundation to this academic exercise.
