In this thesis, we propose effective phase retrieval techniques for optical applications, including measurement of displacement and its derivatives, interferogram demodulation, aberration measurement and correction for phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM), and applications of SLM for interferograms generation and optical cryptosystem. Two one-shot phase retrieval techniques for measurement of displacement and its derivatives, simplified paraboloid phase model based regularized phase tracker, and improved principal component analysis based region matching method for Hilbert spiral transform are proposed, which are faster and more accurate than other state-of-the-art one-shot phase retrieval techniques. GPU powered two-shot phase retrieval techniques are proposed for interferogram demodulation, which shows good acceleration performance and potential for self-tuning algorithm. Aberration measurement and correction of SLM based on self-wavefront modulation and phase retrieval techniques is proposed, which shows advantages compared with state-of-the-art techniques. Moreover, phase retrieval techniques for interferogram generation and attack of optical cryptosystem are proposed.
