Abstract: This doctoral study focuses on the importance of the measurement of small strain shear stiffness for evaluating the behaviour of the cement treated soft clay. Influential factors such as cement content, water content and curing time are varied for the proposed mix ratios with the aim of obtaining a comprehensive insight into the strength and stiffness relationship of cement treated clay. Based on cement treated kaolin clay, a series of experimental tests under unconfined and confined conditions are conducted to investigate the strength and stiffness behaviour of the cement treated clay. The proposed testing regime applied in this study has aimed to better understand the behaviour of the dependency of stiffness on various isotropic and anisotropic stress states.
