dc.description.abstract	The present study is undertaken to look into the male reproductive system of the freshwater shrimp, Macrobrachium lanchesteri (de Man) and of particular interest is the process of vitellogenesis, which is known to occur only in the females. The various possible controls of vitellogenesis were look into in both male and female shrimps using in vitro incorporation of 14 C amino acids mixture and indirect immunofluorescence. Inhibitory action of the eyestalk and androgenic gland on vitellogenesis was also observed.
