dc.description.abstract | Through the years, Singapore technological advancement in the building industry has continuously " created " high-rise commercial buildings with sophisticated facilities and services. With more and more modern commercial developments being completed, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that the existing building stocks are properly managed and maintained in order to remain competitive. In this dissertation, World Trade Centre of Singapore, a relatively old office - cum - shopping complex is selected for a case study. Its various aspects of management and maintenance practices are examined. Attempt is also made to evaluate the needs of the tenants within the complex. The evaluation is done based on the results from a sample survey conducted by the author and her personal analysis. Areas which tenants identified to be lacking are highlighted and appropriate improvements are recommended. The constant review and update of the present system adopted is required in order to keep up with the ever-changing market and to meet the increasing needs and demands from the office and shop users. | |
