dc.description.abstract | The Singapore Energy System model is divided into five submodels gas, electricity, petroleum products, transportation and pollution. Gas submodel is divided into seven sector - demand, financial planning, capacity planning, power generation capacity, regulation, accounting and raw material. The demand sector is where the consumption of gas of three groups of consumers (industrial, commercial and residential) is looked into. Power generation capacity sector ensures that demand for gas is met by production while in the capacity planning sector, plans are made to ensure there is enough installed capacity to meet the production schedule. This is backed by the financial planning sector. The cost of utility charged to consumers is done in the regulation sector. Cost incurred in the production of the utility is accounted for in the accounting sector. Electricity submodel has the same features as those in the gas submodel. There are six products covered in the petroleum products submodel - fuel oil, naphtha, gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene and LPG. They are grouped into four sectors of demand, production, regulation and export-import. In the transportation submodel, six modes of transport are covered. They are cars, taxi, motorcycles, buses, MRT and freight. The energy comsumption of the Singapore Energy System is found to be rising exponentially (Sample results can be found in Appendix C and D). | |
