dc.description.abstract | The condominium concept is a very significant form of housing that has affected the life-style of Singaporeans since its introduction in 1972. It has become the mode of living for the country's middle and upper class families. There have been many studies relating to condominiums. However, there has been no specific study on their residents' satisfaction with the style of condominium living. There is hence a general lack of knowledge in this respect. This study is an attempt to unfold the success of condominium living in Singapore by looking at residents' views both on the physical and as well as social aspects of condominium living. It was observed that most residents found condominium living satisfactory and if given a choice, would opt to live in another condominium. This in turn has given rise to several planning implications. It is hoped that the planning implications indicated by the study will provide a useful basis for evaluation purposes and further improvement in the quality of condominium housing in Singapore. | |
