dc.description.abstract | The title was chosen because of the author's interest in computers and the application of computers to the real estate sector. This covers a very wide scope. Due to lack of time and other limitations, the author has streamlined the scope to be covered. For this dissertation, it is the author's aim to:- (i) establish the need for real estate firms to computerise, (ii) examine the existing usage of computers in local real estate firms, (iii)outline the factors which have to be considered when the real estate firm decides to start computerising, and, (iv) examine one area where computers can be effectively utilised in the real estate profession. The area chosen is the storage and retrieval of data. This function Is of immense importance to the real estate profession because the property world revolves largely around an immense collection of data. | |
