dc.description.abstract | Management councils constituted under the Land Titles(Strata) Act, comprises the people that formulates and implements the policies and decisions that dictates the efficient management of the strata title properties. Particularly in the context of mixed developments, where the body corporate comprises a multitude of diversified and even conflicting interests. The manner in which the council discharges its duties and obligations is a strong determinant in the successful management of the development. Private interests and selfish motives manifesting in the attitude of subsidiary proprietors, and council members alike, have rendered the tasks of reconciling the diversified interest all the more difficult. Further, it can be foreseen that the presence of the majority shareholder, would extenuate the conflict between individual interest against that of the management corporation. Ultimately, it remains to explore the performance factors and to question if management councils, given the "vague and limited" provisions of the legislation, is in the position to meet the high expectations of mixed developments. | |
