It can be said that the present retail scene is one of intense competition. Retailers are aware of the competition they face and have stepped-up expenses on the provision of attractive shopping centre features as a means of attracting shoppers. In fact, as aptly put by Mr. Tang Wee Sung, the ex-chairman of Singapore Retailer Merchants Association : "It is the store that has something unique to offer or that can continue to make shopping interesting and exciting for people, that will do well."
