dc.description.abstract | The Singapore Science Park development is a result of the government's active interest in promoting R&D in the country. The development requires the active support of the government, the University, the private sector and the public as a whole to fulfil its wider objectives. Experiences of foreign Science Parks are useful in working out plans for the local Science Park but these have to be undertaken with the social, political and economic differences in mind. The locational decisions of the tenants indicate to the administrators the factors they need to concentrate on to cater better to the tenants. The development will take a long time to come to fruition but this could be sped up if the administrators adopt reasonable and achievable objectives. They should then direct their decision making with care aimed at achieving these objectives. The success of such parks has to be measured against their stated objectives. | |
