An ideal learning environment, is one in which the differences between individuals are recognised and met by a variety of provisions, including both the familiar and the new; and which allows each child to take from it what he needs at any given time. It allows the child to understand relationships and to come to terms with the world in which he lives. It gives the child an opportunity to build up concepts. not by being told things in abstract, but, by being able to look and listen to and do things himself, and so build up composite idea about his environment. The Primary School - an environment for education. An official report on the teaching and learning strategies, and problems confronting the Malaysian Education System, couple with the recent curricular changes implemented, prompted the undertaking of this design thesis. It sought to propose a solution, within which identified design issues in the primary schools in Malaysia might be dealt with. This thesis design is about teaching and learning environment. It attempts to create a variety of educational spaces, to optimise teaching practices and to encourage the total individual development of primary school children.
