dc.description.abstractThis study looks into the fund management approach of general insurance companies operating in Singapore. It examines the factors determining the size of an insurance companies funds, its contribution to profitability and the factors that have to be taken into consideration in the investment of such funds. This is followed by an analysis of the results of the survey of general insurance companies in Singapore to determine the approach adopted by them in the management of these funds. As the number of returned questionnaires was small, that study also includes an interview with an insurance affiliate to determine their basic of investment management. The study concludes with an assessment of the likely trend affecting the fund management approach of the insurance industry in the near future.
