In 1984. Scotts Shopping Centre underwent a major refurbishment programme in an attempt to remarket the shopping centre due to its declining number of customers. Picnic Food Court was part of the reorganisation and change that took place. Picnic Food Court serves as an attraction as well as an introduction to the new Scotts. With the establishment of Picnic Food Court, the management hoped that the business of the shops would improve. To date. Picnic Food Court has been doing well, and is popular as an eating and meeting place. More importantly, the customers of Picnic Food Court are also generally shoppers of Scotts Shopping Centre. This ties in well with the Scotts management's main aim of attracting more customers.
