ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This research addresses the patterns about incremental and radical innovation related to innovation objectives, product characteristics, product development process, design impacts, and innovation collaboration within Singapore design-driven enterprises. This study adopted case study research methodology, and the research findings demonstrate that: a) Incremental and radical innovation have different objectives in business strategic directions. b) Incremental and radical product characteristics exist difference: c) Most companies share a similar general process with incremental and radical innovation, but the contents and emphasis are different. d) Designers require four levels of knowledge for innovation. Incremental and radical innovation has different emphasis on the requirement of design knowledge. e) Most of the Singapore companies seek to collaboration mainly in the engineering and manufacturing The research findings suggest that companies should recognized radical innovation, which requires managers to operate in a more flexible way.
