dc.description.abstractWeb forms are the essential elements of the interactive Web. Building robust, extensible and scalable Web applications is a challenging task for both enterprise and developers. The Perfect Forms Automaton or Performa under development at CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd aims to become a commercial-standard Web forms development framework. The entire framework is based on XML and its derivative standards. It stresses on the sound principle of separation of duties and proposes an evolutionary view of the web contents as a collection of business objects. The main purpose of the project is to evaluate Performa both qualitatively and quantitatively. For qualitative analysis, we analyze the business and technology trends in Web application engineering, access Performa against a set of criteria a Web application framework ought to fulfill, compare features offered by Performa over other IDE tools. We also show how Performa can serve as an alternative to enterprise eForm solution. For quantitative analysis, we have tried to get hand-on experience developing the same prototype application using both Performa and other IDE based on different technologies.
