dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, novel organic-inorganic hybrid nanocomposites based on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) were designed and synthesized to study the structure-property relationship and light-emitting properties. Initially four different lengths of ending alkyl chains on benzene rings were attached to POSS core to adjust the resultant particle sizes. Secondly, conjugated part with bithiophene derivatives and benzene rings were attached to the POSS core to build light-emitting POSS dots. After confirmation of the chemical structures, these nanocomposites were studied by XRD to determine the particle size. Thermal analysis methods, UV-PL spectra and AFM were used to characterize the nanocomposites and a blue light-emitting nanocomposite was achieved. | |
