Title: | The inverse problem in perspective | Authors: | CHIA WAN TING | Keywords: | camera, geometry, homogeneous coordinates, perspective, projective | Issue Date: | 21-May-2006 | Citation: | CHIA WAN TING (2006-05-21). The inverse problem in perspective. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This thesis is intended to introduce readers to an interesting topic in geometry. Weexplore three methods for obtaining the position of the camera from a box-shapedobject with the help of its image. Furthermore, we seek to understand the geometrybetween these methods. Two of the methods we discuss are in three-point perspective,by Criminisi and Eggar. The third method, by Henle and Byers, is in two-pointperspective. We make use of projective geometry and homogeneous coordinates to showhow, by taking geometrical measurements of a box-shaped figure and its image, we cancalculate the position of the camera. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/15324 |
