A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS BETWEEN SINGAPOREANS AND JAPANESE WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE INTERVIEW CONTACT SITUATION. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||The objective of this preliminary study is to examine the communication problems between Singaporeans and Japanese with particular reference to the interview contact situation. The research design is based on the framework of Nestupny, which provides us with eight rules to interpret the communication problems. The investigation is carried out among a small sample of Singaporean interviewees and Japanese interviewers. No sophisticated satistical analysis has been made of the raw data. An interpretive discussion of the data shows that communications problems do exist in the interview contact situation between the Singaporean interviewees and Japanese interviewers.||URI:||https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/153245|
