dc.description.abstractDramatherapy has so far been a Western concept and practice. My study is an attempt to explore the possible use of this newly emerged discipline in Asia, and particularly in Singapore, for emotionally disturbed adolescents. The awareness of, and familiarity with fundamental processes of dramatherapy, cultural complexities and nature of target clients will be crucial in designing a suitable dramatherapy framework in this part of the world. The potential of drama and theatre for transformation and healing should be fully acknowledged. It can be further maximised through the application of a systematic and formalised programme of dramatherapy developed indigenously. As we move into the next century, drama and theatre should no longer remain as forms of entertainment or education, but rather, extend their potential as vehicles for emotional, psychological and behavioural transformation and healing
