|Title:||SYNTHESIS AND COPPER(II) COMPLEX OF ETHYL BENZOYL ACETATE||Authors:||TIEW KING NYAU||Issue Date:||1972||Citation:||TIEW KING NYAU (1972). SYNTHESIS AND COPPER(II) COMPLEX OF ETHYL BENZOYL ACETATE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||Ethyl benzoyl acetate had been prepared by condensation between ethyl acetate and ethyl benzoate. The infrared spectra of the diketone showed a strong absorption in the 1700 cm-1 region which is due to free >C= 0 absorption. In the copper complex this band disappeared and is being replaced by two new bands in between 1500-1600 cm-1. Adduct formation of the copper chelate with pyridine had also been studied. The result showed that ethylbenzoyl acetate has a constant of 78.7 ± 4.0 which is much higher than those previously observed for the analogous ß - diketone system.||URI:||https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/153157|
