Abstract: In recent years, there are increasing interests in fatigue monitoring technologies with the widespread hope that they will be invaluable in the prevention of fatigue-related accidents. Firstly, this study presented Auditory Vigilance Task (AVT) as validation criterion for fatigue measurement. Validation criterion is critical in fatigue detection technologies to confirm the measurement output is meaningful results related to fatigue. The validity and sensitivity of this method was verified by a scientifically controlled 25-hour fatigue experiment recorded by Electroencephalogram (EEG). Results showed that AVT performance was concomitant with changes in fatigue induced by our experiment design. This AVT was also verified to be effective as criterion variable in fatigue monitoring technologies. Secondly, this EEG-based fatigue measurement technology using this AVT criterion was developed. The results showed that this EEG method was feasible and had high accuracy in fatigue monitoring.
