This research discusses parent education. The nature and practice of local parent education (PE) is being highlighted as well. As will be discovered, the Family Service Centres (FSCs) have the obligation to conduct family life education (FLE) programmes as a funding requirement. Most often, agencies choose to conduct parent education programmes as part of FLE. Other aspects of FLE is largely ignored. In depicting the profile of local PE, it was discovered that there are pertinent issues that emerged which are similar to that of the literature review. It was also discovered that there is a need to address these issues and come to a consensus on what our local PE should be all about. This is because, the conceptualisation of our local PE seems to be fragmented. As the objective of this research is to take stock on the happenings of our local PE, the issues and problems discovered will not only have an impact on the existing agencies but also on new agencies that arc expected to be set-up by the government. It is also intended that through this research and its findings, professionals involved in PE will take one-step back and ponder on the issues brought up in this research.
