dc.description.abstract | Solid acid and base catalysts have served as important functional materials for the petroleum refinery industry, such as in the cracking processes, and for the production of chemicals. Mg-Al hydrotalcite-like catalysts were synthesized and characterized. Their catalytic activities were tested by the monoglycerides synthesis reaction. It was found that HT3:1 calcined at 450A?C showed good structure, surface properties and base strength among all the solid base catalysts, and it is very active for the synthesis of monoglycerides. Solid acid, MSU mesostructured materials with different Al loadings were synthesized and characterized. The best synthesis conditions were found. H-USY 15 catalyst was modified by treating with acid (HCl), base (NaOH) and steaming. Their catalytic activity was tested by the isomerization of alpha-pinene oxide. The steamed HY15 showed very active in the isomerization reaction with 100% conversion at high selectivity to campholenic aldehyde (around 65%) in room temperature. | |
