We consider integrated dynamic routing of restorable connections in IP/WDM networks and develop two integrated routing algorithms (HIRA and BIRA) to dynamically route primary and backup LSPs. Both algorithms can provide shared protection while BIRA is able to select backup LSPs with minimum bandwidth consumption. We further consider integrated dynamic routing of restorable connections under OEO conversion and port constraints and develop port-dependent integrated routing approach. Next, we consider partial spatial-protection (PSP) where the primary LSP is protected against failure of certain links and unprotected against failure of other links. We develop algorithms to determine the set of unprotected links in two cases where failure probabilities of links are equal or different. Finally, we develop multilayer protection schemes where requests are protected either at the optical layer or at the MPLS layer based on recovery time requirements to optimize network resources.
