In this dissertation, the concept of sound transmission loss through door is first explained and experimental results of sound transmission loss of single leaf door with and without door gap insulation are reported. The door gap was sealed with tape, rubber and in some cases by rock wool. The values of sound transmission loss of single leaf door is highly dependent on the installation, door gap and other possible flanking paths i.e. windows, wall, ceiling etc. The importance and usefulness of proper installation of door with a minimum gap at the perimeter is key point in achieving higher transmission loss and better acoustical performance.
