INDOOR AIR QUALITY AUDIT OF A INDOOR AIR QUALITY AUDIT CLINIC AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICES IN A HOSPITAL

Abstract

Indoor air quality audit, which includes objective and subjective measurements, was conducted in a hospital in Singapore. The areas chosen for this study are 4th Storey Clinic and 5th Storey Administration Offices. Physical parameters, particulate pollutants, chemical pollutants, biological pollutants and ventilation parameters were measured for the objective measurements, and questionnaire survey was conducted for the subjective measurements. The formaldehyde levels in both the studied areas and biological pollutants in 4th Storey Clinic were found to be above the recommended threshold limit. The temperature in both the studied areas were found to be slightly lower than the recommended range, and this correspond to the response from the occupants through the subjective measurements. The air was found to be well mixed and no short-circuiting on a global scale. The frequency ofexperience of SBS was not high, and the percentage of occurrence is not uncommon in other buildings. A high percentage of the occupants in the studied areas expressed in the questionnaire survey that the thermal comfort level and the indoor air quality were acceptable to them.
