A facile and traceless solid phase synthesis of 3,4,6-trisubstituted-2-pyridones, 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles, and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine has been developed using polystyrene sodium benzensulfinate resin. The chemistry is applicable to combinatorial library synthesis.
