Title: | SOME STUDIES ON THE OCCURENCE AND DISTRIBUTION OF ROTIFERS ON FISHPONDS IN SINGAPORE | Authors: | TAN TENG WAH | Issue Date: | 1969 | Citation: | TAN TENG WAH (1969). SOME STUDIES ON THE OCCURENCE AND DISTRIBUTION OF ROTIFERS ON FISHPONDS IN SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The planktonic rotifer fauna of fishponds in Singapore was studied. Rotifers belonging to twenty four genera were recorded in drawings and photographs. Some of the genera noted are not planktonic rotifers. Of the rotifer genera so far encountered, the genus Brachionus , which is the most commonly occuring, contains eleven species. Variation in form within the species was als noted. An investigation into the Phenomena of diurnal vertical migration of rotifers in a pond was undertaken. Positive results were obtained. Regular sampling at intervals of two weeks was also carried out on another pond. The variation in abundance of various rotifer species present in the pond were hence observed for a period of about six months. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/149371 |
