Abstract: Interferometry is an established method in optical metrology. Many analysis methods have been developed to retrieve the phase information from the interferometric fringe pattern. Temporal fringe patterns analysis is fast gaining prominence due to the increased usage of optical metrology techniques for transient phenomena studies. This form of analysis, nevertheless, necessitates large data storage and processing time for the fringe pattern intensity and deformation phase. Current compression schemes do not facilitate efficient data retrieval and may even result in important data loss. In this project, novel compression schemes have been devised and studied. A technique based on the temporal Fourier transform fringe pattern analysis allows retrieval of both the intensity and deformation phase. The compression scheme does not result in crucial data loss and allows the efficient retrieval of data. The efficacy of parallel computing in facilitating the process is also demonstrated.
