dc.description.abstractThe lifting operation of heavy offshore structures requires detailed study of many aspects, including geometric, configuration, weight, centre of gravity, member strength, rigging details, lifting crane vessel and construction constraints which influence feasibility and safety of lift operations. These constraints need to be resolved efficiently in order to arrive at a cost-effective solution. Most types of components involve lifting operation, such as girder, plate, equipment, deck panel and jacket / modules. Padeyes and trunnions are two common lifting devices. Standard four sling arrangements are the most common rigging system. For certain lifts, a rigging arrangement involving lifting frame / spreader bars provides a viable option for avoidance of interference between slings and structural components or equipment. The front portion of thesis illustrates lifting criteria and theory, while the most of rest portion presents the lifting study and details of actual projects which author was responsible to the works.
