dc.description.abstractThe BCA Green Mark Scheme is an attempt by the Singapore government to drive the construction industry towards more eco-friendly buildings and to incentivise developers to start building “green”. This paper examines the homebuyers’ willingness to pay for the awards and some of the green features. The effectiveness of the scheme is analysed by estimating the price premiums of the awards and features over time. Singapore transaction data from 2005 to 2017 is used. Using the hedonic model, the results indicate that consumers are willing to pay differential premiums for the awards and the green features, but the premiums fade away over time.
