dc.description.abstract | The thesis investigates the joint generation -- load scheduling of isolated microgrids. An isolated microgrid in this study is defined as the off-grid power system that strengthens the direct generation -- load interaction and simplifies the transmission network. Specifically, it employs dispatchable generators and an energy storage system, and sometimes renewable energy sources, to serve the load. The joint generation -- load scheduling is realised by the technique of storage-integrated generation -- load scheduling (SGLS), which is formulated as an optimisation problem with the numeric tool enabled by the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II. SGLS covers the research gap of concurrently scheduling multiple generators, the storage and the load in a one-step optimisation, without decision variables specifically introduced for the storage dispatch. To extend the literature, the technical development is applied to guide the planning/operation of different types of real isolated mic | |
