dc.description.abstractThe past decade has witnessed the rapid development of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) due to their energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. This thesis focuses on five modeling and optimization problems related to BEV operations from the aspects of governments, BEV individual users and BEV-based carsharing service operators. The research topics include charging station location problem, charging and routing behaviour modeling and analysis, and decision-makings for carsharing services. The location problem seeks the optimal location of charging stations considering path deviation and nonlinear elastic demand. The charging behaviour modeling investigates joint choice of charging mode and location of BEV users. Traffic assignment problem is investigated to predict the traffic flow of BEVs. The study on BEV fleet operation deals with the fleet size of carsharing services considering the nonlinear charging profile, and the joint determination of fleet size, personnel size and trip pricing considering vehicle relocation, personnel assignment and elastic demand.
